HMV Model 99 Portable.

99.

The Model 99 was produced by HMV in the period 1930-1933 and was intended to be a cheap alternative to the Model 102 that was still in production.

It represents a complete break from HMV's usual designs. It has a metal motor-board, and small turntable and tone arm without a goose-neck. It has an auto-brake and a No.16 sound-box.

The sideways design is unusual for HMV machines and the gramophone winds from the front. There is a booklet for storing records housed in the lid. These books are usually missing but is present in this example.

This model 99 is in a blue case, it is in good condition and plays very well. The 99 is one of the very last wind-up gramophones produced by HMV.
