Here is an example of the Columbia Model 201 portable gramophone from about 1928.
Columbia gramophones are always well made, they have good Garrard motors and excellent sound-boxes. This example is in excellent condition and plays very well, using the Columbia 15a sound-box. Columbia machines compare well with equivalent HMV models and are good value for money.
.The Columbia record storage book, usually missing, is present clipped into the lid. This book carries the Columbia logo. The 201 is a straightforward reliable gramophone, easy to use and is an ideal work-horse for playing frequently. This version has a working auto-brake.
